Microneedling
Microneedling is an effective medical grade treatment used to improve various skin conditions.
The treatment consists of using small, sterile, surgical micro-needles to create small channels in the skin. This stimulates a wound healing response in the deeper layers of the skin, encouraging the production of new collagen-rich tissue.
Microneedling is commonly used as a combination or adjunctive treatment to PRF and mesotherapy to enhance the absorption of the nutrients and growth, and provide additional benefits such as improved hydration, increased collagen production, and improved overall skin health.
It may be done on various parts of the body including scalp, face, neck, décolletage, arms, hands, legs and abdomen.

- Fine Lines and Wrinkles.
- Loose Skin.
- Scarring (Acne, Hypertrophic, Ice Pick, Pock Marks).
- Pigmentation & Age Spots.

Treatment Information
Treatment Preparation
At 2 weeks prior to treatment:
- Prime your skin with AHAs, Vitamin A, and Vitamin C in the lead up to your treatment, and then cease use of Retinol 12 hours before your treatment.
- Avoid laser hair removal, waxing, depilatory creams, and IPL treatments on the face.
- Avoid chemical peels and cosmetic injectables.
- Avoid tanning and prolonged sun exposure.
- Men must be clean shaven if having treatment to the face area.
What to Expect
Prior to your treatment, the clinician will consult with you to assess your suitability, discuss your concerns and treatment goals, and answer any questions that you may have.
The procedure involves the piercing of small, sterilized needles into the top surface of the skin for rejuvenation. These tiny, controlled injuries then stimulate your body’s natural healing response, increasing production of collagen and elastin and normalizing various skin functions.
A mesotherapy serum consisting of high concentrations of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other nutrients may be applied topically to the skin to improve texture, hydration, and overall appearance. This allows the solution to penetrate deeper into the skin and provide maximum benefits.
Microneedling treatments are relatively painless at minimum needle depths. Treatments deeper than 0.5mm may cause some discomfort but are overall very tolerable. Some minor areas like the under-eyes, nose corners, upper lip, brow bone, and chin are typically more sensitive compared to the entire facial or neck/décolletage areas.
The treatment is an in-clinic procedure that typically takes up to 45 minutes.
Possible Side Effects
The most common side effects of dermal fillers are mild and temporary, and may include:
Day 1: Severity of erythema (redness) is dependent on how aggressively the treatment was performed.
Day 2: A red or pink hue persists, similar to moderate sunburn. Swelling may be more prominent on the second day.
Day 3: Skin can be pink or simply remain normal in colour, and swelling subsides. Your regular active skincare regimen can be resumed after day 3.
Redness will settle and be replaced by dry, tight peeling skin. Shedding may occur over the next 3-7 days to reveal fresh skin with more neutral skin colouring and improved texture. It is normal for some people to not shed at all.
The degree of tightness and peeling depends on the skin condition on the day of treatment and is not an indicator of the intensity of treatment or the expected results.
Treatment Aftercare
- It is STRONGLY advised to avoid applying any make-up products to the area for 48 hours.
- Do not scratch, rub or pick at your skin. Always make sure your hands are clean when touching the treated area.
- Strictly avoid sun exposure or excessive heat to the treated area for at least 7 days post treatment. Keep the area covered and diligently apply sun protection of SPF 50+.
- Avoid shaving, swimming pools with chlorine and spas with chemicals for 1 week
- Avoid strenuous exercise and/or activities that cause excessive perspiration for 24 hours.
- Use a mild cleanser to wash the face for the following 48 hours after your treatment and gently pat dry.
- Avoid hot or cold water – wash treated area with lukewarm water.
- Do not use any exfoliating products/methods as this may damage the new skin and introduce bacteria leading to skin infections. Gentle exfoliation is allowable after 3-5 days.
- Avoid applying make-up over the treated areas; using scented lotions, soaps or deodorants; active ingredients (Vitamin A, AHAs etc.); acne creams or gels; loofa sponges or aggressive scrubbing.
- Do not apply fake tanning products to the treated area for 2 weeks.
- A cold compress may be used intermittently to minimize discomfort for the first 12 hours after treatment.
- Pain relief such as Paracetamol and Ibuprofen may be used as required.
Follow Up & Maintenance
Results may be seen as soon as 2 weeks. Long-term and more significant results are seen after a course of 4-6 treatments. After a course of treatments, continued improvement may be seen over the following 6-12 months when combined with the recommended post treatment care.
Subsequent treatments are typically 2-4 weeks apart. An initial course of 3 treatments is recommended.
Results will be evident following a course of treatment with ongoing collagen stimulation for up to 8 months with an improvement in skin tone, texture and quality.
Treatments for scarring or more impaired skin will require more sessions (6 treatments or more) with regular maintenance recommended.
